Welcome to The Link Driver Education Program

What is The Link Driver Education Program?

The Link Driver Education Program is for high school teenagers who are at least 15 years old and no older than 17 years and 11 months. Our program is State of Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles approved. Our classroom is conveniently offered online or in person along with actual behind the wheel driving time with our State of Indiana approved certified driving instructors. We partner with the following area high schools: Centerville, Connersville, Lincoln, Northeastern, Richmond and Rushville. You don't have to be a student of one of those high schools to be one of our students. We serve students from all over the Whitewater Valley and surrounding areas.

When can I sign up for driver ed?

Students can sign up for our program as soon as they are 15 years old. Please note: maximum age for signing up for our driver education program is 17 years and 11 months.

What does The Link Driver Ed Program consist of?

With The Link Driver's Education Program, students will complete 30 hours of class room time online or in class as well as 6 hours of behind the wheel training.

Our online class is administered through Driving Brilliance. Per state of Indiana guidelines, students must complete 30 classroom hours as well as the entire course. The online class is our most flexible option as it is completed on the students own time and can be accessed on a computer, tablet and most cell phones.

For students who prefer to take our in person classroom option instead of online, we will offer our 30 hour classroom several times a year. Our classroom will be held at our business office in Connersville. We must have at least 10 students in order to offer the classroom.

For those students who would prefer an in person class, we offer a classroom session at our office in Connersville. Our remaining 2002 classes are:

2022 Fall Class Sundays September 18-Dec 11 5-8 PM

All fees are non-refundable.

When can I get my learner's permit and what do I need to do for my permit?

As long as you are signed up for an Indiana BMV approved driving school, you can get your learner's permit as soon as your are 15 years old. Once you have signed up and paid for driver ed, we will send you an email with instructions on how to begin your class, how to study for your permit and what you need to gather for your permit. We will also attach to that email a Certificate of Enrollment form (CDE). You will need to print out the CDE form and take it with you when you go to the BMV to take your learner's permit test.

When you go to the BMV, you will take a test (on paper or computer- your choice). You will also take items that confirm your identity and address as well as the CDE form. Don't worry if you don't pass the test the first time, most students don't pass the first time. You can go back the next day and test again. There is no limit on how many times you take the permit test.

How do I study for the learner's permit test?

The Indiana BMV website is a great place to start with when studying for your learner's permit test. Here is a link to the BMV's Indiana Driver's Manual https://www.in.gov/bmv/licenses-permits-ids/learners-permits-and-drivers-licenses-overview/learners-permit/drivers-manual/ and a link to a learner's permit practice exam: https://www.in.gov/bmv/files/practice-knowledge-exam.pdf. If you would prefer to study with a paper version of the Indiana Driver's Manual, you can stop by any BMV office to pick one up.

Ok, I have my learner's permit, now what?

Now that you have your permit, practice, practice, practice with your parents as much as possible. The more you practice and listen to your parents, the better driver you will be. If you are nervous, have your parents take you to an empty parking lot where you can practice controlling the car, turns, stops, parking, and backing up. Once you have mastered controlling the car, turns and stops; practicing driving in low traffic arears like a quiet subdivision where you can drive roads with stops and intersections. Then proceed to some city and county road driving. Keep practicing... and work on your driver ed class too!

When can I sign up to drive with an instructor?

Once a student has obtained their learner's permit, they are welcome to sign up for their 6 hours of Behind The Wheel (BTW) driving instruction as long as all driver ed  registration fees are paid in full. You can call us to sign up for your driving over the phone at 765-377-7026 or sign up on our website at www.2thelink.com.

What if I need to change my drive time?

When you sign up to drive, make sure that schedule will work for you. All of our schedules are very busy, there are times that we do not have time to move schedules around. There may be a $50 fee for each drive time that you need to reschedule. We will only waive the fees in cases of extreme circumstances. If there is a driving group that works for you with the exception of one day, call our office at 765-377-7026 prior to signing up. We will contact the instructor to see if they can work with you.

How long do I have to complete driver education?

You have 1 year and 3 months (15 months) from the day you register to complete your driver education course. If you have allowed the program to lapse, there is no refund. It is your responsibility to complete the program. This means you need to have your classroom (online or in person) and your 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction with our instructors completed within 15 months from the day you register for our driver education course. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO COMPLETE YOUR CLASS AND TO SIGN UP FOR YOUR 6 HOURS OF BEHIND THE WHEEL TRAINING. WE ARE SCHEDULING DRIVE TIMES 12-14 WEEKS OUT. SO YOU NEED TO SCHEDULE YOUR BTW DRIVE TIME WITHIN A YEAR (12 MONTHS) WITH US.
