Volunteerism: The Link celebrates National Volunteer Week: |

We here at The Link want to thank all those who assisted with our
programming this past year. This year we would like to give special thanks to
two volunteers who have gone up and beyond the call of duty. |

Janet Seals retired from Square
D/Schneider Electric in 2005 after 31 ½ years, 25 of which were spent at
Square D in Oxford, Ohio. She, along with husband Gary, have since moved back
to Franklin County from Nashville, Tennessee, to be closer to friends and
family, although, she admits to missing the gentler Tennessee winters. While
still working, Janet accepted an opportunity to help adult and elementary
children with reading, as well as helping families learn English as a second
language. She also volunteered her services to teach parenting classes. Janet
enjoys working with people and, now that she’s retired, has the luxury of
time and flexibility to help out when there is a need.

Valerie Tipton is a 2008 Connersville High School senior. Ranked 3rd in her class, this member of the National Honor Society spent her Kindergarten through 6th grade years at Maplewood Elementary. She now volunteers her time as a Maplewood Afterschool program assistant. “Miss Val” is a great asset to our kids and a positive role model.
